Back to work Alert Level 3

Published 24 Apr 2020

NZ is back to pandemic Alert Level 3 as from Midnight Monday 27th April 2020.
Businesses which are able to operate under level 3 conditions may start back then, and prepare for such a start from now. Preparations include activities like stock preparations, cleaning, workplace setups. Normal business activity shouldn't resume until after Midnight on Monday.

ANZAC day is also this Saturday (25th April). It is also mondayised when applicable and any hours worked should be at penal rates even if you are using the Government wage subsidy.

Working under Alert Level 3 is still very restricted and businesses need to take steps to protect staff and minimise infection risks. To this end you are strongly recommended to implement and strictly adhere to a 'return to work plan' including what Health & Safety measures you are practicing to achieve this.

We have created some suggested templates for your return to work plans and Health & Safety guides to use in your workplace and for staff who remain working from their homes. Working under Alert Level 3 still has very strict rules and compliance issues to deal with. Businesses must demonstrate how they are complying and monitoring the situation ongoing.

These templates are available for download in your Employers Toolbox Library documents section now.

Non members can purchase these templates here:

Remember you can use the Visitor Portal in your Toolbox to log staff and visitor movements during this level 3 period.
