Labour raising minimum wage rages again.

The Labour Government has once again announced it will be raising the minimum wage this coming April.

The decision has been widely met with furious responses from NZ business advocate groups and employers nationwide. At a time when inflation is at its highest in 30 years, OCR being raised, and following 2 years of the COVID-19 pandemic and trading lockdowns NZ extends its lead in legislated minimum wages higher than London and Sydney in a country which still has its borders effectively closed to the world. This represents a 37% increase since Labour came to power in 2017.

From April 1st 2022 the minimum wage rates will be:

Adult minimum: $21.20

Training and starting out: $16.96
