Hairdressers can open Thursday

Published 22 Nov 2021

Hairdressers are allowed to reopen in Auckland later from Thursday 18th Dec 2021 as a means of trialling the Government's new vaccine passport system.

No walk-ins allowed, but scheduled appointments are good to go from Thursday this week. Customers and staff must be vaccinated and be able to prove so using the new 'My Vaccine Pass'.

Provided the above is followed hairdressers may operate as if in Alert Level 2.

The idea is, the hairdressing industry can safely offer a "decent trial of the vaccine pass" before the entire country moves to the new 'Red level' under the Covid-19 Protection Framework, also known as the traffic light system, at 11.59pm on 2nd December 2021.

Remember businesses need to have their QR codes prominent to check in customers for COVID tracing AND provide Privacy Act compliant alternatives for those who without smart phone options. Please see our free visitor portal web app if you do not have a solution (www.employers.co.nz/visitor)
