Another Public Holiday has been announced by the Labour Government.
As promised in their pre-election campaign Matariki is to become NZ's twelfth Public Holiday.
The same rules will apply (Employer pays) as usual, the timing will vary like Easter. An advisory group will plan the dates for the next 30 years, but it will always fall on either a Friday or Monday. The Holidays Act will also be amended accordingly.
The first instance of the Matariki Public Holiday will be recognised on Friday June 24th 2022
