STAP

Published 08 Feb 2021

Short-Term Absence Payment (STAP) is the latest Government subsidy to assist businesses in paying employees to stay at home while they await Covid 19 test results.

A $350 payment per staff member is available each 30 day period. As usual it's administered through the Ministry of Social Development and it's the Employer who applies on behalf of their staff.

Employees are also eligible if they have a dependent who is isolating while awaiting test results.

The Government goes on to say that it is not necessary for that employee to have used all of their sick leave entitlement before applying for STAP.

More details are to be released shortly around the rules and application of this.
