Parental Leave Payments To Be Increased

Parental leave payments are to increase from 1 July 2013

Labour minister announced that parental leave payment will increase from 1 July 2013.

The maximum gross amount payable to eligible Employees and those who are self-employed will increase from $475.16 to $488.17.

The minimum gross amount payable to the self-employed will increase from $135.00 to $137.50.

Eligible Employees are entitled to apply to the IRD for paid parental leave for 14 weeks whilst on unpaid leave from the Employer.

The increase in parental leave payments is to reflect the 2.7% increase in the average weekly wage over the past year.

This adjustment is done on yearly basis to reflect the any increase in the average weekly earnings.
