Following the deliberations of a joint union, employer and government
working party the Government looks likely to make changes to the Equal
Pay Act 1972 and the Employment Relations Act 2000.
A statement issued by the Office of Paula Bennett, Michael Woodhouse
and Louise Upston advised that "The Government has accepted the
recommendations of the Joint Working Group, which set out principles for
raising and resolving pay equity claims through bargaining…"
What will this mean for you? More information will be available when the Bill to change the legislation is introduced to Parliament. This is expected to happen in 2017.
